Mecanic table

Wavy lemon-tree veneer, maple, rosewood, cedar and plane-tree burr on fir and oak, solid yew tree, England, Sheraton-style, late-18th century.

This exceptional, high-quality piece of furniture comprises a rectangular table supported by sheathed legs with casters. Two drawers open on the belt, with the one on the right concealing the strike and allowing the shelf to slide forward. When it is opened a third of the way, a row of six drawers, which is concealed within the belt, appears via a spring. The surfaces are decorated with oval details and compound threads. The four sides are coated with veneer.
